Texans have been asking for Federal Emergency Monies with all of the grassfires we've been fighting. Obama is too busy pushing increased spending from ObamaCare, and all his other pet projects.
So let's take care of our own. I've donated, and I'll encourage you do to the same. If we Conservatives are going to scream and shout "We don't want any more spending", we need to close that outreached hand begging for "our fair share".
Help out your fellow victims of the fires. Step up and show Washington "We mean it when we say cut the spending!"
I'm owned by two horses. Romeo is a 17 year old AQHA gelding, who will be putting his trail buddy / babysitter status to good use. Harley is a 7 year old AQHA gelding out of Skys Blue Boy, and this year, we're going to try all KINDS of new things.

A Rasp Enema Where it Belongs
Mrs.Mom has been very judicious in her delivery of the Rasp Enema. Here's a recent example. I'm sure she can come along, comment, and add a few other examples. She and I have been emailing this week, and, while we have a few personal and private targets in mind for the blessed Rasp, I have one I'd like to publically call out.
You little thing on Facebook, who can't connect first names, last names, profiles, and links. My first name, Jennifer, is ridiculously common in my generation. Following someone else's comments, to my profile, then to my blog, where you copy, paste, and steal my words. If reading my blog about the last horse show "blows your dress up", and gives you what you believe to be good entertainment, I'm happy for you. Since you're of the mind to follow me, keep on reading. We all tell plenty of horse stories around here, and occasionally, a conservatively-minded post hits the page. However, at least do me the favor of connecting my comments to my profile. Mixing someone else's comments up with my blog, will just land you a little more than embarassment. (You wanted attention, right? Well here it is!)
I love me a good hearty political debate. Hearing other points of view is intriguing, and sometimes, educational. What I don't learn from, however, is the cursing, name-calling, and general "I'm gonna tell on you" immaturity. In my few years of political persuasion, I've learned one solid thing - when Conservatives disagree with an opinion, we just disagree with the beliefs. When a Liberal disagrees with an opinion, they resort to name-calling, cursing, and general attack of the person. They can't defend their opinion, so they attack the opinion-holder.
Long life a good debate, but the Rasp will be delivered as appropriate.

05/06/10 National Day of Prayer
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/05/despite-controversies-national-day-prayer-proceeds/?test=latestnews
And the show must go on, even if it’s in a legal debate right now.
And, for once, the President got it right.. I’m almost shocked.
President Obama issued a proclamation last Friday as his Justice Department appeals a federal judge's ruling last month that the day of prayer is unconstitutional.
"Prayer has been a sustaining way for many Americans of diverse faiths to express their most cherished beliefs, and thus we have long deemed it fitting and proper to publicly recognize the importance of prayer on this day across the Nation," Obama said in the proclamation.
Prayers continue for our country, our leaders, our military, and the unbelief.

Who are The 15?
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/04/27/house-joins-senate-voting-reject-pay-raise/
After yesterday's post about the vote being up in the House to suspend their automatic pay raise for 2010, I did some digging...
The Senate voted this earlier this year, actually initiated by Feingold (D). Sweet.. I thanked Senator John Cornyn (R) for his part in this.
Then, this morning, I read above where the House voted in the same manner. Way to go Ron Paul (R) for your part in it!
But, 15 House Representatives think they still deserve a raise. I need to drink more coffee and eat some breakfast first here, but I will find out who did it, and I will out their names right here. If you unfortunately live in a state that has a representative that voted AGAINST the raise suspension, thereby saying "They think they deserve the $1400 a year raise" (Or was it $1600, anyways...), I feel bad for you. Get after your Representatives, and tell them how you feel.
And if you think they deserve a pay raise for all their hard work, then I hope you're gainfully employed with all the perks they're enjoying. I'm employed, but I don't know what I'd do with all the perks, bells, and whistles..
Wait, yes I do. I'd own a HUGE horse farm, hire an awesome trainer, and ride my tailfeathers off every day. Or do I already do that last part?

Their Annual Salary is WHAT?!
Taken directly from a Facebook comment after Representative Ron Paul called for support for his co-authored bill to eliminate pay increases in the House...
Tonight, a House of Reps. bill that freezes congressional pay will come up for vote under Suspension. Everyone should take note on how their own representatives vote on this - during a recession, when many people are getting pay freezes or even laid off, our Congressmen, who are already paid $174K/yr, should be willing to forgo raises. Remember the names of those who vote against this, and FIRE them come November.
Excuse me?! *cough* Almost choked there... $174,000 annually?!
I SERIOUSLY am in the wrong line of work. I could be lying, mistreating, and living on some amazing benefits and STILL have that for an annual salary? No wonder that "Average Joe" Scott 'whatever-his-last-name-was' in Massachusetts wanted the job...
They don't need to stop pay raises, they need to take a pay cut! Get on the phones, and start demanding your Senators and Representatives either take a pay cut, or start earning their checks, doing what we the constituents tell them to do.

Don't Bother Disagreeing with Me
I'll just delete the comments. This isn't an issue I take lightly, which would be why I've been so quiet about it until right now.
http://whitehouse.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/03/23/obama-signs-health-insurance-overhaul-bill/
I think I just threw up peanut butter sandwich lunch in my throat.
The whole thing is wrong in SO many ways. I don't know where to begin.
They didn't debate the current bill correctly, or fairly.
They didn't even consider there may be a better way.
They voted for it, but won't be following it themselves.
If you voted for any of these people, and disagree with what they're doing, you better start calling, mailing, emailing, and blogging. Call them out & demand an explanation. Everyone in my region "got it right." Senate and House.
Here's an awesome blogger who describes the issue very well. Enjoy the read!

Fox News Leans Right
I'm all for neutral media. But I commented on this story, and it isn't making the comments. CONGRESS didn't pass it, the House did. In case anyone failed US Government in school, the House does NOT Equal Congress! This spending is ludicrous, but it has to pass both Branches - House AND Senate.
Comment with me, and tell the author to stop the hysteria until we know more for sure!

Justice
http://www.timesonline.com/bct_news/news_details/article/1373/2010/january/06/seven-plead-guilty-in-legislative-corruption-scandal.html
Justice is in the starts. I've followed this whole mess since it began. All the taxes that were getting paid didn't seem to be showing up in the county or region. Now, it's coming to light that a lot of that cash was going towards future campaigning.
When Mike Veon gets his justice, and goes to jail, or at least pays good solid high fines, then I will celebrate. He and I have some ugly history, and I hope he gets his turn in front of a ruthless conservative judge & court. :)

I Stepped in It - Wind Farm Creates Jobs
http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/2009/11/obama-stimulus-bill-saves-or-creates-thousands-of-green-manufacturing-jobs-in-china/
I don't care if they create a dozen new permanent positions, and a few hundred temporary ones in the construction. There's going to be a new windfarm in Dallas, and that's a good thing.
No I don't like our current regime in government (and lest you judge, I don't like 'em locally, either). But far be it from me to complain about any job creation.
Someone tell me why the new work is so bad, please?

Check This Out!
http://interactive.foxnews.com/presidential-poll
Look at the comparisons! Conservatives are none to happy, and most Liberals love him (though that's not what I read earlier today). Independants are square in the middle, so the average looks to be about right.
Look at Obama compared to Bush. And look at the timelines. In the first 100 days, neither were well-loved. But right after Sept 11, 2001, look at our country. We were all waiting to see, what would he do?! How would our leader protect us?
And check out the approval rating! 81%!!! Don't you Libs tell me you really hated Bush the entire time he was in office. That's balogna! Complete hockey-posh!
Remember when Fmr President GW Bush said to the NYC Crowd, "I can hear you. Can you hear me? Good! Pretty soon, the people that knocked down these buildings will hear ALL of us!" The crowd went wild! I remember almost bursting into joyful tears! We were going to get 'em! No way they'd come after us again!
Too bad I don't feel that safe now.

Peace Prize - What the Heck?
You didn't really think I'd let this one go without a comment, now did you? Puh-leeeeeeze.
Community Organizer and State Senator Wins 2009 Peace Prize
Okay, that subject title is a very toned-down version of what I'm really thinking. I'm trying to keep the place rated PG, and today is one of the hardest days so far to complete this effort.
My thoughts in the order I had them this morning...
#1 He what?! You're kidding me, right? It's an early April Fools Joke. It has to be! He hasn't accomplished ANYTHING but a few speeches since taking office! There's no way that's true!!
#2 Well, Heck. They gave it to Al Gore for the Global Warming efforts as scientists were discovering it's not true. Maybe the Nobel guys need to drink more coffee. I sure hope the Physics and Chemistry voting committees are different people, because I liked their choices this year.
#3 He was in office for 12 days when his name made the list?! So they gave it to him based on the campaign rhetoric?! Huh??? Pickings must have been slim on the list of "folks that are trying to save the world."
#4 It's an anti-Bush statement. They were all mad at our former President for his war efforts, in his mission post 9-11. Yeah, that's it.
#5 Maybe they're reaching out. Maybe they're saying, "Hey, dude. You're the only hope we see anytime soon for true efforts of World Peace and International Diplomacy. Now, don't blow it.
It's a shame he's meeting with War and Defense Officials today about Afghanistan and Pakistan to hear troop level options. You know darn well now that Mister Peace won't choose to send off more troops.
May God Bless the ones already there, because they're not going to get any relief now.
And a Big Shout-Out to Sirius Satellite Radio. There were Evil Disturbances in the Force this morning, so my mind turned the station to Sirius 144, then to 131. Imagine my shock when the newscasters on Fox & Friends announced the Headline of the Day. Oi Vey!

Are You Kidding Me?!
First, the beer sloshing party.
Then he can't learn when to shut his mouth.
Now, he is appealing for... the Olympics?
C'mon! Good grief, Man! You have a job to do! You have a country to run! Would you please stop goofing off & GET TO WORK!
Well, you know... Maybe I should shuddup, huh? If he's goofing off in Denmark, that means there's less radical-left bills getting signed, right?

US Senate Vote S. Amdt. 2355 - ACORN
I'm about beyond sick of hearing "we dislike the government but don't do anything but loudly protest & carry-on about nothing". Fine! I'll start putting feet on my protest. I don't have time to attend Tea Parties - I have to work to pay taxes to send checks to folks that aren't working. *ahem*
Senate Votes to end funding to ACORN.
83 Yea
7 Nay
9 Not Voting
Here's the 7 - if they're in your state, and you disagree, I'd let them know about it.
Burris (D-IL)
Casey (D-PA)
Durbin (D-IL)
Gillibrand (D-NY)
Leahy (D-VT)
Sanders (I-VT)
Whitehouse (D-RI)
Cornyn (R-TX) YEA!
Hutchinson (R-TX) Not Voting - Trust me, I'll find out why.

In some way, this is outright funny. Yet, in some other, what was he thinking?!? First, it's beer in the White House. Now, he can't control his tongue on camera.
Which of you Libs wants to go teach the man how to behave out in public? Huh? If I do it, he's gonna get slapped upside the head too many times. Yup. The Conservatives call him a LIAR and it makes national news. He uses cuss words to describe another human being, I wonder if that will be "okay."
And, yes, Kanye West didn't think before he grabbed the microphone from Taylor Swift. He admitted he screwed up, he apologized. But is this really a matter involving a Presidential response? Seriously?!
Last I checked, the economy still needs work, health care bills are floating all over D.C., and we're still at war!

I Haven't Forgotten
Sept 11, 2001. 9:00 - 11:30, Graduate Student 311, Organic Mechanisms.
We were in Grad Student Organic Mechs. Doc Shawe was mad at us because a few students showed up late, and so he was grilling us individually, calling us out to explain a reaction mechanism. I wasn't on my total A-game, and it showed. I knew about 85% of the questions he asked me directly, and about 65% of the ones he asked others. Fortunately, he wasn't nearly as mad at me as my peers. He was so irritated we weren't all speaking up enough and answering his questions, we took a break "so he could have a more useful conversation with the coffee pot."
After about ten minutes, he came back in the room, we all sat back down, and class resumed. He mentioned "Some weird sh~t going on in New York City, but nothing that affected us. Looked like a building or two caught on fire. Let's get back to it before we waste any more of your or my time." After class was over, a few of us wandered up to his office with some questions about the material. We were trying to do a little "professorial damage control hiney smooching" to please him, admitting we weren't all smart enough to remember it all, and needed his experience & help.
He put FoxNews website up on his screen. This was a normal activity. Doc Shawe is a HUGE Conservative, and hated the University's All-Liberal policy. Often, he'd pull up FoxNews almost out of spite to the mostly Liberal student body. I usually smirked, and grinned at him, knowing he couldn't care less about the news of the day, but simply wanted to annoy other students or staff.
Suddenly, everything about Organic Mechanisms, and the reactions from class, were pointless. All of us in his office fell silent. He hit "refresh" on his IE window a dozen times, and every third or so, the text would change.
Moments later, we were all gathered in a conference room in the Sci building, discussing how in the world we were going to get students focused enough for afternoon undergrad labs, if the college was even going to have afternoon classes.
The college made the executive decision that, if students wanted to go to class, professors would be there. If students chose to not attend afternoon classes, that was alright, too. We had about 75% attendance in my afternoon lab section, students dazed, trying desperately to focus on "the normal life".
I spent the evening in church, who scheduled an emergency blood drive for PA victims & rescue crews. The rest of the time around the blood drive I was in the sanctuary, singing & praying, hoping for something close to normal. Campus activities were slowed to a crawl for nearly a week, students piling up in vans to assist with victim assistance & rescue crew counseling. We were close enough to the PA crash site to do something, and many put their skills to use.

That lady had it coming! I hope the guards accidentally tell the other inmates what she was found guilty of...

No I Won't Turn it Down
Check it out! My hometown paper's editorial ding-a-ling, JD Prose, is back to work. Congrats for the new baby, I hope she keeps you up more nights - These last two articles are much more animated than a few before.
For a while, I was a HUGE JD fan! HUGE! He went right after former State Rep Mike Veon, who I had a personal beef with. Mr. Veon went on public television back when I was in grad school and boasted of "all the good he did for his region." I called him on it - he was a liar. Unemployment was through the roof, senior care was horrid, and kids weren't any smarter coming out his district than anywhere else. JD called him out on it, and later raised the roof when Veon was indicted for a variety of tax evasion & tax dollar misuse counts.
But, since the Obama-nation has taken over the country, JD has gone beyond anti-conservative. I don't really know what's happened to him - got married, made a couple babies, and he wants the government to subsidize the family, or what...
But Lookie Here... He's gone goofy on the Health-Care plan, too.. I comment & respond here, because they won't approve my comments anymore - Guess I got a little too personal about six months ago when he was anti McCain.. Not real sure.. So I vent here, where speech is free, and my blog is my own.
JD - Way off the mark, man.. We're not all Right Wing nvts that hate socialist health care. The polls don't lie - most of the country wants change in health care, but not the same change Obama wants... Quit blaming Republicans for showing up to the Town Hall meetings. If the Libs aren't showing up, it's not our fault. They're too cheap to buy the bus pass, we can't force them to participate. Conservatives have very few avenues to speak our mind right now - if the Congress folks elected want to show up to a meeting & get their rears arranged, that's their fault. Can't blame us for trying. (Guns & Bibles in hand at that.)
Speaking of.. I heard the funniest video from an African-American radio talk show host. Watched it on a co-worker's pc, and I wish I remembered the fellow's name.. Man he was funny. Called Obama the "long legged Mack Daddy" over and over. I like that nick name. I might keep it, just call him "MD". *giggle*
